Thursday is nearly here, which means it’s time for our weekly Roll Up and Round 6 of the Eclectic.
England are through to the World Cup semi-finals. It wasn’t pretty, there were a few anxious moments, and the performance won’t be appearing on any coaching videos. But they got the job done. Sound familiar? It’s the golfing equivalent of spraying it across three fairways, needing a fortunate bounce or two, and somehow still managing 36 points.
That’s golf. Some days you stripe it and score nothing. Other days you spend the afternoon negotiating with trees, bunkers and the golfing gods, only to discover your card looks surprisingly respectable.
Now it’s Argentina waiting in Atlanta. A proper heavyweight contest, and England will need to raise their game for the battle ahead.
Back at Boundary Lakes, the stakes may be slightly lower, but Round 6 of the Eclectic is another chance to improve a hole, climb the leaderboard and remind everyone that golf is a game where one brilliant shot can erase the memory of the previous seventeen.
