Our very own Doug Watson has been out representing the Lakes and, rather inconveniently for everyone else, has come home with the silverware.

Doug headed to the Southwick Park Seniors Invitational and produced a magnificent 42 points to take the title. Forty-two points away from home is serious golf — the sort of score that has fellow seniors quietly studying the handicap system while pretending to congratulate you.

And this isn’t Doug’s first offence. After winning at Rowlands Castle last year, he’s now developing an alarming habit of visiting other people’s golf clubs and leaving with their prizes.

Doug is apparently becoming concerned that it might be time to put the clubs away while he’s ahead. We disagree. There are plenty more clubs around Hampshire with trophies that need liberating.

Huge congratulations, Doug. 42 points, another away-day victory and the Boundary Lakes flag planted firmly on foreign soil.

At this rate, invitations may become harder to come by.
